Since the year 2002, under the Charoen Pokphand Foundation of the CP Group, the organization lent its support to His Majesty the King’s ‘Royal Water Buffalo Bank’ project by purchasing water buffaloes destined for the slaughterhouse. The project, which was supported by donations made through CP Group and its employees allowed for rescued water buffaloes to be given to farmers in need for agricultural work. As this initiative is conducted twice a year, during Mother’s Day and Father’s Day in Thailand, over 1050 buffaloes have since been saved from the slaughterhouse, with 200 water buffaloes surviving each year. In addition to lives of buffaloes being spared, environment in rural communities around the nation continues to prosper without pollution from farmers switching towards the use of fuel-generated tractors.
