The ‘Agriculture for Lunch’ project was initiated Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and supported by the CP Group out of concern due to a lack of nutritional food for Thai youth within the educational system. As schools have been found to lack appropriate resources for the purchase of nutritious food, a joint effort by CP Group and the Rural Lives Development Foundation was established.
After the ‘Agriculture for Lunch’ project began in 1997, the Rural Lives Development Foundation, with support from the CP Group, has provided nutritional lunches, with protein from eggs, to some 30,000 students in the most remote areas of the country. In addition, education on cultivating vegetables and raising chicken allowed for students to earn income via the sales of their produce. Today, this self-sufficient initiative has provided over 144 schools, and growing, with the ability to productively earn extra income for the school’s lunch budget.
