The ‘Phu-Fah’ tea (Mountain tea leaf) project was initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn over 7 years ago. After visiting CP Group’s exhibition booth offering its ‘Oolong Tea’ from China, Her Royal Highness suggested that Thai hill tribe farmers might be able to grow such a product if the CP Group provided the necessary support of planting and cultivating Oolong tea, whereby, farmers are able to earn additional income. As CP Group launched its project during its first two years in 2002 and 2003, over 70 hill tribe families were able to earn over 3,000 Baht per a farmer. Training support in growing the Xin Xin Oolong tea enabled hill tribe families to obtain additional income as such a tea is considered to contain the best aroma and taste amongst its kind. Today, the Xin Xin Oolong tea may be purchased only at the ‘Phu-Fah’ store located at the 2nd floor of Siam Discovery Mall.
