On December 5th 1987, CP Group and its staff founded the ‘Rural Lives Development Foundation’ in support of His Majesty the King’s concept for self-sufficiency in agriculture. As farmers tended to focus only upon one crop during the year, namely rice which was seasonal, there were no means to which additional income was achievable. Stressing ‘mixed farming’ training, various cultivation of vegetables, along with rice farming and mill cooperatives, fruit and flower farming, along with livestock and aquaculture farming were emphasized. Since the project was aimed at helping rural farmers increase their self-sufficiency, today, farmers are able to trade in a variety of markets throughout year while earning additional income for their families and raising the standard of living within their respected communities.
